Biography:
Even though I initially wanted to be an engineer, when I first came to Case I really didn't have much idea as to what I wanted to study. I loved to dance and was interested in studying medicine. I have had the opportunity to explore a bit and have finally settled on pre-med with majors in dance and chemistry. It has been a great experience being able to take dance and perform while still preparing for a career in medicine. Double majoring in two completely different fields of study is an opportunity not many universities offer and I am grateful for how accomodating Case has been.
Why did you choose to attend Case?:
I was originally interested in studying engineering and was drawn to Case for its outstanding reputation in that field. I also found the city of Cleveland appealing with the art museum, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the athletics. I also liked that it wasn’t too far from home.
What do you like best about Case?:
I like all of the opportunities Case has to offer. There are so many places to volunteer, a lot of research opportunities and several clubs and activities on campus. The diverse student population brings such a rich culture to Case. There is just about every club you could imagine, not to mention all of the culture Cleveland itself has to offer. I have a lot of really great memories but one that really sticks out is performing for the first time at Mather Dance Studio. I was a part of Panorama, a piece choreographed by Martha Graham. It was a lot of fun performing modern dance for the first time and getting to know all of the dancers at Mather.
Describe the best professor you've had at Case. What made him or her special?:
My first-year SAGES professor, Dr. Terri Mester, took a few of her Life of the Mind students out for sushi toward the end of the semester. It was so nice getting to know her more personally and to just talk to her in such a relaxed environment. I still run into her at the library and around campus and I enjoy chatting with her.
What do you plan to do after graduation, and how has Case helped you reach that goal?:
I plan to attend medical school after taking some time off. Originally I wanted to dance during that time, but now I am becoming more and more interested in Teach for America.
