Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate Exam Policy

The policies regarding the awarding of credit for Advanced Placement of The College Board and International Baccalaureate Examinations are reviewed annually by departments and may be subject to change.

Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate credit carrying exemption from particular courses may be used to replace those courses for purposes of core curriculum, major, or minor requirements. Credit and exemption will be given only for AP or IB examinations taken prior to matriculation.

Credit will be posted on a student's record after the end of the first semester of enrollment and therefore will not appear on the first semester grade report.

If, after matriculation at Case, a student completes a course for which he/she received credit/exemption on the basis of AP or IB, the AP/IB credit/exemption for that course will be forfeited and will not count towards graduation requirements.

Case recognizes the International Baccalaureate curriculum and A-level examinations. In general, credit equivalent to the AP credit awarded according to the chart below is given for grades of 5, 6, or 7 on IB HL examinations and grades of A, B, or C on A-Level examinations.
